Our Facility

Setting and History Add to Experience
A bright, spacious facility on a grassy acre in a beautiful, rural setting, our school is no more than a ten-minute ride from the center of Williamstown. Our grounds include a large outdoor secured area with a newly constructed playground, climbing structures, a children’s garden and lots of room for running, playing ball and riding bikes. Our indoor space includes a playroom with equipment for active play.

Little Red’s location in the South Williamstown Historical District adds a sense of community and history to an atmosphere of fun and learning. Plans for the schoolhouse were initiated in 1860 to accommodate increased enrollment in the original 1810 school located across Route 7. While construction was delayed by the Civil War until 1865, the new building was completed in 1868 and became known as “The Little Red Schoolhouse.” We became a nursery school in 1964 after many years serving as a one-room schoolhouse and one of the town’s elementary schools. The building also houses the South Williamstown House of Local History.
